Why Rest?
Blissful Sunday 14th May 5pm
Book hereRestorative Yoga classes can be useful to help reset your body and mind, whether you are nursing sore muscles or a hangover, rehabilitating an injury or illness, or simply looking to chill out on a Sunday night.
This slow-moving and laid-back class consists of longer holds (3 to 10 minutes) of uncomplicated positions to allow time for the body to soften and the mind to quiet. This enables the body to switch over from the fight-flight mode to relaxation. We use blankets, bricks and bolsters to support the body, to encourage relaxation.
During deep relaxation, all the organ systems of the body respond which may result in great benefits. A few of the measurable results of relaxation are the reduction of blood pressure and the improvement of immune function, as well as improvement in digestion, fertility, elimination, and the reduction of muscle tension and general fatigue
We will be using Hot Stones option in this class. As you relax in the poses, heated basalt stones are gently placed on the body. The heat from the stones gently penetrates into muscles, melting away layers of physical and emotional tension, resulting in a deep state of relaxation
BASALT STONES ARE RESULTS OF VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS AND CONTAIN SILICA AND OXYGEN IN COMBINED PROPORTIONS. MINERALS LIKE MAGNESIUM AND IRON PRESENT IN THE STONES ARE ALSO POPULAR FOR THEIR HEALING PROPERTIES
Benefits can include:
- It may promote deep muscle and tissue relaxation
- Assist the body in the detoxification process: hydrating and flushing cells
- Can help sooth anxiety, depression and stress
- Assist in emotional tranquility, patience and stability
- Offer a sense of peace and well-being__
This class finishes with a Yoga Nidra relaxation, With yoga nidra, you are lying down and the goal is to move into a deep state of conscious awareness sleep, which is a deeper state of relaxation with awareness. This state involves moving from consciousness while awake to dreaming and then to not-dreaming while remaining awake — going past the unconscious to the conscious. Yoga Nidra is a more efficient form of rest and rehabilitation than conventional sleep. An-hour session of Yoga Nidra is as restful as four hours of sleep. During the practice you let go completely of the body, relaxing every single part of it. Complete relaxation dispels tension and fatigue in the physical body and relieves depression, anxiety, headaches, cravings and desires. The entire system is rejuvenated and energised, reinforcing the body’s natural healing capacities
